I had forgotten that the Armory show had started out in hotel-rooms. I started looking into Colin de Land, who was mentioned in the times article and found it surprising that something he helped found turned into such a strange perversion of the art world. I was also reading about the First International Dada Fair from 1920 in Berlin. Found this article about it in October (Summer 2003) that I'm putting online... Dada Fair PDF. It's half commentary and half a translation of the original introduction from the catalog.
