NOT TOTALLY SURE HOW THIS CRAP WORKS BUT ITS SOOOO COOL. THIS IS A METAL PLATE WITH A TRANSDUCER UNDER IT. THE RESONAT TONES MAKE THE RICE MAKE CRAZY PATTERNS. MAKE IT.

The phenomenon is based on a Chladni plate, which is named after the German physicist Ernst Chladni. He discovered that he could produce symetric patterns in sand covering a metal plate by bowing it at different frequencies. By hitting a resonance frequency, the modes of vibration on the plate have effectively no vibration so the sand, or rice, collects there while moving elsewhere.
