Daniel Martinez Lecture

For those of you who missed Daniel Martinez at Avery last night, a DVD of the talk will be available later today. Stop by and see Melody or myself and sign out a copy. I highly recommend you see this presentation. Also check out his latest online project involving temporary autonomous zones, UBER. A great alternative to the Saatchi site, as well as MySpace, et al. And the manifesto is pure poetry.

Judy's show at the Dorsky Museum

If you weren't at the opening Saturday night, take yourself to SUNY New Paltz for the rare opportunity to see a huge collection of drawing and prints by Judy all under one roof. You will not be disappointed. Except for the fact that any one of the pieces in the show could have and should have been included in the "Cosmology" show at James Cohan that we saw on Friday. A glaring omission indeed.

NOT TOTALLY SURE HOW THIS CRAP WORKS BUT ITS SOOOO COOL. THIS IS A METAL PLATE WITH A TRANSDUCER UNDER IT. THE RESONAT TONES MAKE THE RICE MAKE CRAZY PATTERNS. MAKE IT.

2007 Kingston Sculpture Biennial

CALL FOR ENTRIES:
The 2007 Kingston Sculpture Biennial runs July 7th to October 20th. Applications and guidelines can be downloaded at the above link. This year's curators are Wayne Lempka from the Dorsky Museum at SUNY New Paltz, and Beth E. Wilson from Chronogram Magazine. (Judy was the curator for the 2003 Biennial.) DEADLINE IS APRIL 2ND!

Sun Circle

Sun Circle (Zach Wallace, Bard BFA 2004, and Greg Davis) will be bringing their minimamlist peace drone to SMOG on 2/19. Joining them on the bill will be Wind Up Bird. Zach did some incredible sound sculptures and installation work as a student here; it'll be interesting to see what he's up to now.

Joe Frank

Thought I'd start things off and test if this works by posting a link.

I found this interesting site where artists upload images and then go head to head in a viewer voted weekly elimination style face off tournament.

They have seven different categories you can compete in. If you end up being an overall winner in a category you get $1000 and a spot in the Athena Awards collective exhibition.
